About JISA Research Pages

The Jazz In South Africa (JISA) project has been set up to investigate various aspects of jazz in South Africa.

The overriding aim of this project is to develop a critical understanding of jazz in South Africa that is informed by the thinking of the musicians who make the music.

The JISA research pages will be developed as a freely accessible online resource and will feature statements by musicians, research on the music, and jost JISA Records. Submissions to this site in the form of interviews with musicians, discographies, or links are welcome. The site is primarily set up to collate the thinking of musicians, however articles or papers relating to jazz in South Africa will be included in the research section.

The JISA project is maintained by Jonathan Eato and is a result of research leave from the Music Department at the University of York (UK) and a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
