First Set: The Good Dog Happy Band

Second Set: The University of York Jazz Orchestra

The Good Dog Happy Band directed by Matt Postle (see images below) opened the evening  with a great set in their own inimitable style, including a seasonal special.

Matt Postle - trumpet

Joe Murgatroyd - alto / clarinet

Noah Noutch - trombone

Ike Lockett - tuba

The Jazz Orchestra set focussed on music with a UK connection featuring charts by British composers Julian Argüelles, Dave Holland, and Mike Mower. Chris McGregor - an expat South African who lived and worked in the UK for many years - was also featured. The Jazz Orchestra featured more of Chris McGregor’s music on 26 February at the NCEM.
